Holiday Airdrop 2025 dates

Hello, Biggles people, we are running again for 2025!

Dates I'm tentatively looking at, based on past years:

- Signups in early November, say Nov. 3-10, something like that?
- Deadlines in early January, around the 5th or so

If either of these wouldn't work for you, please let me know! We could also do reveals in mid-December, so we could enjoy the holiday fics during the holiday season, but I can't do signups any earlier than the first week in November, so it'd only be about a month's writing time.

Adding other fanwork types increases the difficulty of setting up and matching the exchange, so please only vote for it if there's a decent chance you'd request and/or offer it, or if you have particularly strong feelings about it. (I'm fine adding, say, art, if some artists want to join in - I'd hate to exclude them! - but it is easier to run as a single-medium exchange.)

I voted for January and fic only/mod's choice, but I'd sign up whichever way any of this goes. :D

What I like about the January reveals, aside from more writing time, is that nothing else has reveals (or deadlines) then. It's kind of a slump time for fics after the mad rush of December, and it's really nice to have a whopping pile of Biggles to look forward to after everything else has dried up.

That's a really great point about the dead zone in January! I think that's why we originally ended up there; so many people were finishing things up in mid to late December, or distracted with other exchanges.

Yes same. I'd like to most likely do Yuletide so I can't have two competing deadlines and that reveals Dec 25th so early January feels good to me. Plus it capitalizes on the holiday vibes!

That said I'm game for whatever.

How do you feel about including other WEJ canons in the exchange - Worrals, Gimlet, Steeley? I can't remember what happened in previous years...

See other comment to Philomytha - as the mod, I'd prefer not to add canons I'm not personally familiar with. But I am completely fine with anyone else running a general WEJ-verse exchange and using the comm to organize it!

How do you feel about including other WEJ canons in the exchange - Worrals, Gimlet, Steeley? I can't remember what happened in previous years...

I had to think about it for a while and talk it over with my co-mod, but I think since I haven't read most of the non-Biggles books, I'm not comfortable modding canons I don't know in a small exchange like this one. If someone else wants to run a general WEJ exchange, they're welcome to do it with my blessing, though, and would be welcome to use the comm for organizing!

In previous years, we've had characters from those canons as crossovers as long as a Biggles character is also there, so that would definitely still be fine!

Makes sense! I think all the other WEJ canons are in Yuletide too, I might use Yuletide for them and keep Airdrop for Biggles <3

That seems like a good approach! And I certainly wouldn't mind if a WEJ event or commentfest or whatever popped up at some other time of year, either.

I’m travelling this year so have a preference for January, but would find a way to make it work if it was mid December :)

I voted for January reveals, partly because I've got a busy couple of months coming up so mid-Dec might be a bit tight, and also because I've quite enjoyed the fact reveals have brightened up the post-Christmas slump in past years :DDD and I'm happy to stick with fic, especially if that makes matching easier.
